The Maker Faire Rocklin is a full-blown community festival that brings together science, art, craft, homesteading and engineering plus music, food, workshops, and performance.
In previous years, we were thrilled to meet over 8,000 people throughout Sierra College, all excited, and curious, about Maker Faire! Attendees got to meet over 120 makers showing and explaining projects of all sorts and sizes; participate in hands-on workshops and making across tech, craft, science; and enjoy a few area of music, demos, panels & more.
This year, Sierra College will be the host location for another great Maker Faire Rocklin on Saturday, October 12, 2024 with its new time, 10am to 3pm.
This family-friendly event showcases the amazing work of all kinds of makers across Placer County, Sacramento County, and beyond—anyone who is embracing the DIY or DIT (do-it-together!) spirit and wants to share their accomplishments with an appreciative audience. Exhibits that are interactive or highlight the process of making things are especially desired.
The first step to participating in the Rocklin Maker Faire is to submit an entry that tells us about yourself and your project. Entries can be submitted from individuals; groups such as hobbyist clubs and schools; commercial makers or crafters; startups; and companies. (Food vendors please write to Onelly.Olivas-Perez@rocklin.ca.us). We cannot allow anyone to participate in the event without first applying online.
Note, there is NO FEE to participate in the Rocklin Maker Faire if you are not selling or promoting a product. If you are a commercial maker, startup, or company and want to sell, booth fees vary between $50 to $175.
Here’s some suggested ideas for topics that we’re looking for:
Maker Exhibit: Our standard setup for a Maker exhibit is a 10’x10′ space. If you need more space for your exhibit or project, please let us know. Use this space to display your work and/or demonstrate how you make something. Try to incorporate a hands-on or interactive element for best exposure and connection to your audience!
Presentations or Workshops: 15, 25 minute or 45 minute time slots. This can be demos, stories, how-tos, or a group (panel) conversations. If you would like to offer longer or multiple workshops, please indicate in your application or email maker.faire@rocklin.ca.us to discuss this possibility.
Performances: Our main music stage typically has 45 minute sets. We love to program non-musical performances as well, and encourage pop-up performance happenings.
If you have any questions about participating in the Rocklin Maker Faire, please contact us by email: maker.faire@rocklin.ca.us.
